Maya – Summer League Shooters

Maya Summer League Shooters,

Our summer begins on May 2nd.  I’ve had a lot of inquiries about the shooting the Summer League and the format, rules, and paying to enter the league.

The league runs for 9 consecutive weeks.  You have the choice of shooting Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of the week.  You may start anytime that’s convenient for you no matter which day and between the hours of sunup to sundown. You must have 6 scores to compete for awards.

There will be scorecards and payment envelopes in the non-locking mailbox at the front of the clubhouse. Complete your scorecard… Name, Style, Age, and Gender on the scorecard.  Place the shooting fee in the envelope and complete the information on the front of the envelope.  When finished shooting, place your scorecard in the locking mailbox.  Shoot fees for adults are $2 each week and $1 for youth.  You can choose to pay for the entire league also the first week.  Adult cost for the entire league is $14 and Youth is $7 if paid the first week of the league.

The first week you will be shooting the Field white face target with black spot.  This target will be shot from the white stakes on the target lane. 4 arrows will be shot at each target location.  Scoring is 5 for the spot, 4 in the inner ring and 3 for the outer ring. Target lanes will have different configuration as to stake placement.  One white stake, all 4 arrows are shot from this stake. 4 white stakes, shoot 1 arrow from each stake, this is called a Fan. 2 white stakes, you shoot 2 arrows from each stake.  When you have 4 white stakes in progression towards the target, you shoot 1 arrow from each stake beginning at the furthest stake. This is called a Walkup.

The second week you will be shooting the Hunter black face target with black spot.  This target will be shot from the red stakes on the target lane. 4 arrows will be shot at each target location.  Scoring is 5 for the spot, 4 in the inner ring and 3 for the outer ring. Target lanes will have different configuration as to stake placement.  One red stake, all 4 arrows are shot from this stake. 4 red stakes at the same yardage, shoot 1 arrow from each stake, this is called a Fan. 2 red stakes, you shoot 2 arrows from each stake.  When you have 4 red stakes in progression towards the target, you shoot 1 arrow from each stake beginning at the furthest stake. This is called a Walkup.

The third week you will be shooting the animal targets. These are shot from the yellow stake. Shooting rules: A maximum of (3) marked arrows may be shot, in successive order, and the highest scoring arrow will count. In the case of walkup target, first arrow must be shot from the farthest stake. The second arrow from the middle stake and the third arrow from the nearest stake in ordered to be scored. Only only 1 arrow striking the target is scored! You need not shoot a second arrow if you score with the first arrow. If you miss with the #1 arrow, you move to the next closest yellow stake and shoot your second arrow. If you miss the #2 arrow, then move the closest yellow stake and shoot your #3 arrow.

Scoring for Animal face targets, mark 3 arrow 1, 2, & 3.
